Story
The Roberts Centre in Portsmouth has been a lifeline for families, children, and vulnerable individuals since 1985. It provides essential support, offering temporary accommodation, family services, and community resources to those who have nowhere else to turn. But to keep delivering this vital assistance, they need our help.
This year, Walk the Island is stepping up to make a difference. We are raising funds for a multi-purpose vehicle that will transform the way The Roberts Centre can reach those in desperate need.
The new vehicle will do more than just transport items—it will provide hope, dignity, and a fresh start for so many families who are struggling. Right now, the Centre faces challenges in delivering critical aid efficiently. A dedicated van would mean that they could:
* Deliver essential household items—beds, furniture, and white goods—to families moving out of crisis and into stable homes.
* Transport food bank supplies—ensuring that no child or adult has to go to bed hungry.
* Support maintenance and property care—making sure that families in temporary housing have safe, clean, and comfortable living spaces.
* Respond to emergency situations—getting immediate help to those facing urgent hardship.
* Strengthen community outreach efforts—bringing resources, support, and connection to those who need it most.
