Story
The influence that Marcus Rashford has had on raising awareness of child and food poverty in Britain has inspired us to want to do our bit. Some of our players know through personal experience how tough it can be for people in our community, and we know the scale of the problem extends much further than the government’s reluctance to pay for free meals during the October school half term.
As a club, we have decided to help by donating our time as we believe this is the best way we can make an impact. We will be supporting our local food bank in Beverley and this how we want to help:
1) We want anyone who wishes to donate an item of food or essential non-food items such as toiletries, etc. to please send us a message and one of our members will arrange to collect it from your home. We will be collecting from Leven, Hornsea, Beverley, Hull and surrounding areas. All donations collected will reach the East Yorkshire Food Bank on a regular basis for the remainder of the season and beyond. Please either drop us a message via our Facebook or Twitter pages, by email levenmc11@gmail.com, or contact Steve Hunt 07507833268, or Martin Hatto 07852 947700.
2) We will be teaming up with East Yorkshire Food Bank in Beverley to spare a few hours a week to help in their warehouse.
3) From this Saturday, all of our players will be encouraged to bring an item of food with them to the game to go towards our weekly donation to the food bank.
4) Any money raised by our fundraising campaign will be used to purchase the most urgent supplies that the food bank is most in need of.
