Story

Jackson Garwood aka Jackson Superhero.

Hi everyone,

I am participating in a charity boxing match at The Mayfair Venue Romford on April 5th, 2025, in conjunction with Honey’s Boxing Gym in Rayleigh. I started boxing in June 2024 which supported me in my fitness and weight loss program and progressed to me signing up to this boxing match with the support of Joe Honey (Coach). I am raising money for Jackson Garwood. When he was just past his first birthday, he was born with infantile Krabbe Disease and wasn’t expected to live beyond the age of two, he is now 10 years old. Krabbe disease is a genetic neurological condition which affects the nervous system and causes degeneration. Jackson was reaching normal milestones up until the age of one, walking, talking and trying to say Mum and Dad. But one day Jackson was unable to move parts of his body. Jackson cannot walk, talk or sit up but has fantastic hearing.

Jackson lives at home with his mum Rebecca, his dad Darren and his two sisters Seren and Nora in Essex. Darren has written a series of books called Jackson Superhero which involves Jackson becoming a Superhero at night and has many adventures saving the world. Illustrations are provided by Carl Osbourne and are available in Waterstones and WH Smiths, and highly recommended for young children.

Jackson’s story is inspiring and with the love that her receives from his Mum, Dad and Sisters he has reached the age of 10 years old. The moral of Jackson’s story which inspired the books is that though he may be limited during the day and evening in his dreams he can be anything he wants to be and hopefully bring inspiration to those parents who require superpowers on a daily basis.

So, whatever you can donate will be greatly received and all proceeds will go towards the purchase of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and a new oxygen concentrator as they are currently £5000 short to purchase the equipment,

Thanking you in advance,

Jay
