Story

I'm raising £2000 to fund the production of 'Drive' by actor-writer Joe Flynn, showing at Theatre Peckham as part of Peckham Fringe, this May 2025.

Drive follows Four College Friends from a council estate in Greater East London who band together over their love of music and soon, through a journey of self-discovery, find themselves on the cusp of success.

'Drive' is an introspective and authentic exploration of working-class identity, friendship, and ambition, all translated through the language of music. Based on the experiences of Joe Flynn and his childhood friends, the play tackles the struggle of forging a sense of self worth in today's generation, whilst reckoning with the everyday realities that make it increasingly difficult to thrive. This conflict is brought to the forefront within a bold, comical and honest retelling of lived experiences that are too often underrepresented or tokenized in mainstream culture. The production celebrates the strength in diversity and the power of embracing originality in a time where the value of inclusion and creativity is under threat. Through their combined talents and brotherly bond, the characters find joy in a shared sense of belonging and the ability to transcend their surroundings through music, a joy that we hope can be shared with audiences night after night.

Through supporting 'Drive', you will help fund our goal of bringing this story to audiences in Peckham, and many more, by making the production the best it can be. Funding will go towards not only our production costs and the marketing of the show, but the bulk of it will be used to pay everyone involved in the production fairly for their time. In an industry that faces daily funding cuts and where 63% of creatives are unemployed, it is really important to us to compensate those who have dedicated themselves to this project.

If this project speaks to you in any way, please consider donating or sharing this page with those that can help us further our goals.

Any donation of any size will make a difference and would be hugely appreciated! Thank you.
