Cefnogwch Adferiad Campau Amatur Traddodiadol Cymreig yn ystod Eisteddfod yr Urdd! Support the Revival of Traditional Amateur Welsh Sports at the Urdd Eisteddfod!

We’re raising £2,500 to bring the ancient Welsh sport of Bando back to life at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Margam Park this May—right in the heart of its historical homeland.

Rydyn ni'n codi £2,500 i atgyfodi'r hen gêm Gymreig Bando yn ystod Eisteddfod yr Urdd ym Mharc Margam fis Mai eleni-yng nghanol ei gadarnle hanesyddol.

Pam ydy hyn yn bwysig? Roedd Bando ers talwm yn gêm gystadleuol iawn wrth galon y gymuned ym mhob cwr o Gymru, â'i gwreiddiau'n arbennig o ddwfn ym Margam a'r cyffiniau. Wrth atgyfodi Bando a gemau traddodiadol eraill megis Cnapan, byddwn ni'n cysylltu pobol gyda'u treftadaeth, iaith a hunaniaeth trwy chwaraeon.

Why is this important?
Bando was once a fiercely competitive, community-driven sport played across Wales, with deep roots in Margam and surrounding areas. By reviving Bando and other traditional Welsh games such as Cnapan, we are reconnecting people with their Welsh heritage, language, and identity through sport.

Who are we?
We’re Campau Celtaidd Cymru, a newly established Community Interest Company (CIC 16297883) dedicated to reinstating Wales' native sports as part of our living culture and centred in the communities of Wales fostering community and national belonging.

Pwy ydyn ni? Mae Campau Celtaidd Cymru yn Gwmni Buddiant Cymunedol newydd (rhif 16297883) a ffurfiwyd yn unswydd i adfer campau cynhenid Cymru fel rhan o'n diwylliant cymunedol.

Prif nod Campau Celtaidd Cymru yw cryfhau hunaniaeth cenedlaethol a chymunedol ym mhob sir trwy wneud yr iaith a'r traddodiad barddonol cymunedol ar gael i bawb ac i hyrwyddo campau cynhenid Cymru. Hwn bydd Corff Llywodraethol y gemau hyn.

Campau Celtaidd Cymru has as its basic aim the strengthening of a Welsh national and community identity in every county of Wales via the provision, preservation, promotion and facilitation of the Welsh language, Welsh community poetry tradition, Welsh cultural heritage and of the historical native and ancient pastimes/games of Wales. It will serve as the National Governing Body responsible for the promotion of these games.

Y cam cyntaf fydd lansio twrnament bach Bando yn ystod Eisteddfod yr Urdd, gyda thimau cymysg disgyblion Blwyddyn 6 ysgolion lleol.

Our first step is to launch a Bando mini-tournament at the Urdd Eisteddfod, featuring mixed teams of Year 6 pupils from local schools.

What do we need?
To make this happen, we need funds for:
✅ Playing equipment – so the children can experience bando firsthand
✅ Coaching & training – to teach the skills of our ancestors
✅ Facilities & first aid – to ensure a safe and successful event.

Beth sydd ei angen? I wireddu hyn, rydyn ni angen cyllid i dalu am:
✅ Offer chwarae – i'r plant brofi chwarae bando go iawn
✅ Hyfforddiant ac ymarfer – i ddysgu sgiliau'n cyndadau
✅ Cyfleusterau a chymorth cyntaf – i sicrhau llwyddiant a diogelwch y digwyddiad.

Dyma ddechrau'n taith! Gyda'ch cefnogaeth gallwn ni sbarduno adfywiad campau traddodiadol amatur Cymreig ledled y wlad, gyda ffocws ar ein hiaith a diwylliant - i sicrhau y bydd cenedlaethau i ddod yn profi, mwynhau ac ymfalchïo ynddynt fel rhan o'u bywyd cymunedol bob dydd yn hytrach na dim ond darllen amdanynt mewn llyfrau hanes.

This is just the beginning!
Your support will kickstart the nationwide revival of traditional Welsh amateur sports, centred around the Welsh language and associated culture and heritage — ensuring that future generations don’t just read about them in history books, but play, enjoy, and take pride in them as part of their communities and everyday Welsh life.

Help us restore this vital piece of Welsh identity—donate, share, and support today!

Helpwch ni i adfer yr elfen hollbwysig hon o'n hetifeddiaeth - cyfrannwch, rhannwch a chefnogwch heddiw!
